A chemical peel is a process that involves blistering and peeling the top layer of the skin with a chemical solution. The new skin that emerges is softer, smoother, and clearer than the previous layer. Based on the patient's desired outcomes, the operation can be classified as mild, medium, or deep peels
This chemical peel can be used on the face, neck, and hands. Chemical peels can be used to treat the following problems:
Depending on the type of chemical peel used, the operated skin may experience a sunburn-like sensation. It can last anywhere from 3 to 7 days for mild peels, and 7 to 14 days for major peels. The process is repeated until the desired outcome is achieved. In some circumstances, a bandage is applied to the operated skin for many days as a precaution.
The skin becomes more sensitive to sunlight after a chemical peel. It is recommended that you do not expose yourself to direct sunlight during the day, but if you must, always use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 to protect yourself from UVA and UVB radiation.
